Tour Description

The spectacular scenery of this area has inspired writers, poets, and artists for centuries. Loch Lomond is Great Britain's largest expanse of fresh water and is certainly one of the most beautiful Lochs in Scotland. This is where the Highlands meet the Lowlands and the Highland Boundary fault line runs right through Loch Lomond.

We visit the quiet unspoiled east shore of Loch Lomond where you can have a short walk if you wish or just relax by the Loch and take in the views. We then head for The Trossachs with its sparkling Lochs and wild Glens, this is Rob Roy country and was first made popular by the writing of Sir Walter Scott, it was the setting for two of his novels ‘The Lady of The Lake’ and ‘Rob Roy’.

So come with us and stroll by the Bonnie Banks, walk in the footsteps of Rob Roy McGregor, hear about the Highland Clan System, early settlers and Viking raiders. We pass through some nice villages along the way such as Balmaha, Aberfoyle and Callander, we also stop at Doune Castle, the setting for Monty Pythons ‘The Holy Grail’, and the BBC's ‘Ivanhoe’. If you would prefer to visit Stirling Castle just let us know when you book. Visiting the Castle is of course optional.

This is a very popular tour and is an excellent introduction to Scotland's history and scenery, there are also some optional short walks, so if you like to get out into the natural environment this is the tour for you. For the less active there are other options such as visiting Glengoyne Distillery or just sit back and enjoy the scenery at a leisurely pace with stops at the various viewpoints and Lochs or perhaps have a stop at the Scottish Wool Centre in Aberfoyle.
